Monday Montage 16

Tonight's project is a scrapbook page that I created using an old picture of my older sister Courtney and I. This picture isn't just any ordinary picture.  It was taken many many years ago and it's actually a picture of a picture.  (I think I'm around 19-20 months old in this picture)

When I visited my parents a few weeks ago I went through some old pictures with my mom.  This was one of my favorites!
For my scrapbook page- I wanted to do something a little different.  I actually printed my picture out onto a piece of Canvas Creations instead of photo paper.  It took me a few tries to get it right but overall- I like how the picture came out!  It has that "old fashioned" feel to it.

             

Here's a close-up of the canvas picture.  It's hard to tell that it's canvas but if you look at the texture of the image- you'll see that it is!

For the flowers- I also used Canvas Creations and the Spiral Flower Die.  Then I sponged each spiral with ink (I use Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Wisteria Wonder), rolled them up and glued them together. 

 Using the Canvas Creations for the flowers was a lot different than using card stock or DSP.  The canvas isn't as sturdy as paper is.  

It's hard to see in the picture but I used my sewing machine to sew a zig-zag stitch along the left side and bottom border of the page.

Before I get to the last of the beautiful Craft Project Central projects- I'd like to share the card that I created for the Creating Pretty Cards Sketch Challenge.  Each month CPC offers a sketch challenge .  This month's sketch is pictured below:

Since I haven't used the Labels Collection Framelits much lately- I thought it was the perfect time to get 'em out!  For my card- the bow in the sketch was replaced by a circle flower.  LOVE these!  

I chose the Watercolor Wonder DSP because the colors reminded me of spring!  Here's hoping Spring arrives sooner rather than later!

Woo-Hoo Owl Card and Gift box

Good morning!
Woo-Hoo!  It's Wednesday!  That means the week is half over!  Can't wait for the weekend! How about you?  I have some new toys to play with and lots of new things to share!
Today's project is another fabulous Craft Project Central project.    This super adorable gift set was created by Tanya Bell.

This sweet little owl will warm the heart of any owl lover.  The coordinating card and gift box are both easy to make and feature some of the lovely Framelits sets from Stampin’ up!

I'm not sure about you- but this adorable little owl and card would be enough to convince me to subscribe to the March edition of Craft Project Central!  It doesn't get much cuter than this!

Good as Gold!

Good morning!
I can't believe that it's almost time to say goodbye to Sale-a-bration!  It seems like it just began a few days ago!  Thankfully we still have a few more days to take advantage of the awesome FREE products!  One of my favorite items from this year's Sale-a-Bration catalog is the Good as Gold card kit.  This kit comes with 8 card bases, 8 Gold envelope liners, 8 envelopes, 1 sheet of Gold Foil tags, 1 sheet of die cut printed tags, 8 pieces of Gold Elastic Cord and 8 pieces of Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine.  Pretty much everything you need to make 8 gorgeous cards (minus the adhesive)!
The tags that come in the kit are pre-printed and are in multiple languages.  It's nice to have such a wide variety of choices!
For my cards- I chose to use the "thank you" and the "for you" English language tags.  These cards were created in about 30 minutes.  Not too bad for 8 cards!

Mini Spool Tutorial

Good afternoon!
As promised I have written a tutorial on how to create the adorable mini spool cards that I shared here a few days ago.  I wasn't going to write one because they are so easy to figure out how to make but I received so many requests it was almost overwhelming.  I'm so happy to hear that so many of you liked them!  As I mentioned when I posted the cards the first time- I saw a picture of mini spool cards on Pinterest.  I'm not sure who the original creator is as the card was pinned from several people.  When I tried to trace it back- I got nowhere.  It seems the picture was just that.  A picture uploaded from someones computer and not linked to a website.  So- here is my version!

MINI SPOOL CARD TUTORIAL

You will need the following supplies:
3" x 6" piece of card stock for the base (mine is Crumb Cake)
2-3/4" square piece of coordinating DSP or card stock (I used Sweet Sorbet DSP)
2-3/4" square piece of Very Vanilla or Whisper White card stock (for the inside-Mine is Whisper White)
Stampin' Trimmer
Envelope Punch Board
Paper Snips
SNAIL
33" Baker's Twine/Linen Thread (whatever you like best)
Woodgrain Stamp
Early Espresso Ink
SNAIL
Stampin' Dimensionals
Glue Dots
Buttons or other embellishments- your choice!

Instructions:
Step 1:   Score 3" x 6" piece of card stock at 3"
Step 2:  Insert the folded edge of the card base into the Envelope Punch Board and line it up at the 1-1/8" mark and punch.  Flip the card stock over and line it back up at the 1-1/8" mark and punch again.
Repeat for the opposite edge of the card.

Step 3:  Using the Stampin' Trimmer- line up the inner "dips" of the card along the cutting track as shown in the picture below.  Cut the point off so that your card is now straight.  Repeat for the other edge of the card.

This is what your card base should now look like.  

Step 4:  Ink the Woodgrain stamp with Early Espresso Ink.  Stamp the front and the back side of the card.

Step 5:  Take the 2-3/4" square piece of coordinating DSP (or card stock- whatever you choose to use) and insert it into the Envelope Punch Board.  Line it up at the 1" mark and punch.  Flip DSP (or card stock) over and line it back up at the 1" mark and punch again.  Repeat this step for both edges of the DSP/card stock. This creates the layer for the front of the card.

Step 5

Step 6: Using the Paper Snips or the Stampin' Trimmer and cut the center points off (same as Step 3).  I found that for the DSP- it was just as easy to use Paper Snips as it was to use the Stampin' Trimmer. 

Step 7:  Turn the DSP layer over and adhere a Glue Dot to the back edge of the card.  This will hold the edge of the Baker's Twine while wrapping it around the card.  Wrap the twine around the center part of the card and secure other loose end with a glue dot.

The front of your layer should look like this.

Step 8:  Using Stampin' Dimensionals- adhere the spool layer to the front of the card base.

Step 9:  Repeat Step 5 and Step 6 for the Whisper White (or Very Vanilla) inside layer.  Adhere to the inside of the card using SNAIL adhesive.  Here is what the inside of the card looks like:

Step 10:  The card is now almost complete.  Embellish as you wish to finish the card.

I chose to embellish my card using the Big Shot, Decorative Dots Embossing Folder, Chalk Talk Stamp Set, Black Staz-On ink, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, a Metal Button with a scrap of Summer Starfruit Baker's Twine, and scraps of coordinating card stock/DSP.

Good as Gold Craft Project Central

Good afternoon!
Today I have another Craft Project Central Project.  I LOVE this set!  It was designed by Kris McIntosh.  If you haven't gotten this kit yet- I highly suggest placing a $50 Sale-a-Bration order while you still can!  You won't regret it!

This set of cards and presentation box are made using the Notecards and embellishments from the Good as Gold Card Kit from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  You will be able to cut the Notecards up to create the designer series paper for the cards and box.  The Happy Watercolor stamp set works really well as the focal point for the cards.  The presentation box is created using the Envelope Punch Board.  You will have five cards and most of the embellishments from the Good as Gold Card Kit leftover for more creations, or you could make two sets and give one away!

Mini Spools

Good morning!
Almost everyone who knows me- knows that I'm all about the little things.  I like teeny tiny cars, miniature versions of larger items and various other small things.  So- when I saw these adorable mini spools on Pinterest- I knew I had to make some for myself!
These were created using the envelope punch board and take less than 10 minutes to make.  They are created as 3" x 3" cards so overall- they're pretty small!

I started out with a Crumb Cake base that I stamped using the Woodgrain background stamp.  I love the look that the Woodgrain stamp adds.  It's almost like looking at a real piece of wood!  The DSP is Sweet Sorbet.  Hurry!  This DSP will only be around for a few more short weeks!  Sale-a-Bration ends 3/31 so don't miss out!  CLICK HERE to shop in my store!

Monday Montage 15 Tag Boxes

For tonight's project- I have created 2 absolutely adorable little boxes using the new Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  The first one is a the biggest and it holds a package of mini maple sugar candies.  The maple sugar candies are fresh from the sugar shack!  I spent the weekend in NY state at my parents house and a trip to the sugar shack was a must!  There's nothing like fresh maple products straight from the local maker!

Here's a picture that shows the actual contents of the box.  Don't they look yummy?

The next little box was also created using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch.  It's hard to see the tag topper in this picture but you can see it really well from behind.

The picture below shows the back view of the box.  You can see the tag topper much better in this view.  This box is pretty small- it doesn't hold much but it's definitely large enough to hold some miniature candy bars or a gift card!

Zoo Babies Mini Album

Good morning!
Earlier in the week I mentioned that I had been playing around with some new Stampin' Up! items.  One of those items was the Zoo Babies stamp set.  OMG am I ever addicted to this set!  I can sit and stamp with it for hours!  This set is so absolutely adorable and I love everything about it!  I'm not really sure how I lived without it before!
The project I'm sharing today is a mini photo album that was created using the Clear Envelopes from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  Overall I think it came out cute!  What a fun way to display pictures of your loved ones!

Using Clear Envelopes is not a new idea for a mini scrapbook.  The idea has actually been around for years. I just decided to dig up the tutorial and make one myself.  For my album, I wanted to decorate my cover a little differently.  I added an adorable shaker frame to the center of the album cover.  Using the new Fringe Scissors I created some grass for a few other Zoo Babies to hang out in. This cute little album will hold 10 pictures.  What a fabulous gift for a new mother or grandmother!

For this picture the mini album was placed on it's back so that it would lie flat.  It's tough to get a good picture when there's a window sheet reflecting the light.

Baby We've Grown

Good morning!
It seems like forever since I last posted!  I spent the past weekend coming up with some adorable baby cards and baby favors.  I fell in love with the adorable little bunny from the Baby We've Grown stamp set so needless to say I had to have it!  It's truly an adorable bunch of stamps!  I can't wait to share all the fun items I've created using it!

The first card I have to share is a 5" square card.  I think it's fun to create cards that are not the standard size!  I stamped the little bunny in Black Staz-On ink then onto a scrap of Watercolor paper.  He was colored by using an aqua painter and some Baked Brown Sugar ink.  Isn't he adorable?

Tag Swap!

Hi there!
A few weeks ago another member of the Inking Everything team asked if anyone on our team was interested in participating in a tag swap.  Normally I'd say no as I like to keep my projects unique and not make multiples of them but this time- an idea had already popped into my head and I said SIGN. ME. UP!

I knew immediately the tag I was going to create!  I can't explain how my crafting brain works but let's just say sometimes it has ideas and sometimes it doesn't!  Faux camera's are pretty popular right now and they are so much fun to create!  And as I said above- a tag idea had already popped into my head so I went with it! I hope my fellow swap-mates enjoy these cute little camera's as much as I enjoyed creating them for the swap!  They really are super adorable and tons of fun!

Zoo Babies Brag Book & Card

Good morning!
Today I have another wonderful project from Craft Project Central to share with you.  This adorable Zoo Babies Brag Book and Card was created by Laurie Zoellmer.

Monday Montage 14

My project for today is a set of three adorable mini candy dispensers.  It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures but these little cuties measure less than 3" so they really are tiny!

Aren't they adorable?  I'm not sure why but I LOVE "little" things.  They always seem to make me smile the most!  These little dispensers are the perfect size to set on a co-worker's desk!  What a way to brighten someone's day!

I think this one is my favorite.  I love using the Petal Parade stamp set and layering it with a sentiment.

The colors in the Sweet Sorbet DSP are perfect for the upcoming Spring season!  I'm happy that stores already have their Easter candy out!  It makes a perfect match for these little dispensers!

For the last dispenser- I created a circle flower for the top.  This picture shows what the flower looks like as well as what the front looks like.  It's been fun creating these little treats to share with you today!
