hello

Hello there!
I was challenged to create a card that was simple and yet elegant.  Do you think I succeeded?  I sometimes think that creating projects that are clean and simple are just too difficult for me.  I personally prefer cards with TONS of layers, embellishments and textures.  There's just something about a project that's totally decked out that I love.

Although this isn't my typical style I think I like the outcome!  It was a fun challenge!  I could have added some texture by stamping the card with Gorgeous Grunge (and believe me- I thought about it!) But then I didn't want to defeat the purpose of this clean and simple design.  Thanks for stopping by!

PS:  Those cute little Pearl Basic Jewels were smooshed onto the VersaMark ink pad and then dipped in the Gold stampin' emboss powder.  Then promptly heated with the heat tool.  I dipped them a few times to get the gold tone that I was looking for.  LOVE them!

Card Ingredients:
Card Stock:  Whisper White, Gold Glimmer Paper
Tools/other supplies:  Stampin' Trimmer, Stacked With Love Washi Tape, Big Shot, Hello You Thinlits Dies, Pearl Basic Jewels, Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Snips

Monday Montage #38

Hello there and welcome back for the bi-weekly Monday Montage blog hop.  Did you arrive from the fabulous Cathy Casey's blog?  If not- be sure to follow the hop all the way around to see what beauty she has created today!

My project for tonight is a card that was created using the Butterfly Basics stamp set and a sentiment from the Six Sided Sampler stamp set.  To create the background- I used a piece of  Water Color paper that was colored with Pool Party and Pink Pirouette ink.  I then randomly stamped the honeycomb image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set in Crumb Cake ink.
Are you wondering how I created the words in the background?  It was simple!  After the Water Color card stock had dried- I used the Dots decorative mask as a stencil and stamped the sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set directly onto the mask.  Voila!  The image below is what I got!

The bottom left  and top right portions of the card were slightly covered with modeling paste.  It's kinda hard to see from the picture but in the left hand corner- I stamped the leafy image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set directly into the wet modeling paste.  If you decide to try this for yourself- be sure to wash your stamp immediately to prevent any modeling paste from drying on your stamp.   After the modeling paste was dry- I used a sponge dauber to add some Wild Wasabi for greenery.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you will continue around the hop by clicking the NEXT button to see what the amazing Dara Gloden has to share with you tonight.  I'm sure it's gorgeous!

Four Feathers and tons of GOLD

Hello there!
I LOVE layers!  Don't you?  Not just in clothing but also in paper crafting. Now- I'm not really sure I could get away with wearing 5+ layers of clothing but I can get away with a TON of layers with my card.  And as you can see below- that's exactly what I did!  TONS of layers.  Everything from card stock to DSP to modeling paste, ribbons, inks and much more!

I must admit that this card has literally taken me a good portion of my evening to create.  Not because I was short on ideas but because I had to wait for all the different mediums to dry.  Definitely a s.l.o.w process but I love how it turned out.  I'm sure I could have kept adding to it but then at some point I think it would have become too gaudy.
One of my favorite aspects of this card is the feathers.  LOVE love love Four Feathers stamp set and I'm so happy it's still available in the Occasions Mini Catalog.  It's kinda hard to see in the picture but the little feather is also partially embossed with Gold stampin' emboss powder.
Thanks for stopping by!

From My Heart

Good Morning!
Isn't it the best feeling when you create a card and someone else LOVE's it?  That's how I feel this morning! I was asked to create a Valentine that had a vintage feel to it.  Though I'm not really sure how well it fits into the vintage category- I do love how it turned out!  The Typeset Specialty DSP peeking out from behind the rolled corner is one of my favorite aspects of this card.

I had originally planned on using some Night of Navy seam binding ribbon that I had distressed but I chose to use the beautiful lace trim from the Artisan Embellishments Kit instead.  The flower embellishment is a rolled paper rose made with the Typeset Specialty DSP and inked in Crumb Cake ink.

Thanks for stopping by!

Snuggles and Smooches

Hello there!  I'm still in Valentine's Day mode so I hope you don't mind me sharing another Valentine!  This card was created with one of my absolute FAVORITE photopolymer sets- Snuggles and Smooches.  The stamp set itself looks like this:

Adorable, right?  I LOVE the string images.  When stamped by themselves- they look like flowers. Want a more dimensional look? Try adding layers over the stamped image!  Such a FUN set!

For my card below- I began with a piece of Watercolor paper.  I used an Aquapainter to brush on some Pool Party and Pink Pirouette inks.  The large string image was stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Using my favorite rule (the rule of 3's) I added the smaller string image stamped in Real Red ink.  Since I wanted the Real Red images to blend in with the other watercoloring- I used the Aquapainter directly onto the stamped image to make the ink bleed.

Card Ingredients:
Card Stock:  Real Red, Whisper White, Watercolor paper
DSP:  Subtles DSP stack, Stacked with Love DSP stack
Stamps:  Snuggles and Smooches
Inks:  Pool Party, Pink Pirouette, Real Red
Tools/other supplies:  Big Shot, Starburst Framelits, 2" Circle Punch, 1-3/4" Circle Punch, 1/8" Real Red Taffeta Ribbon, Confetti Heart Border Punch, Heat Tool, White Stampin' Emboss Powder, Stacked with Love Designer Washi Tape, Aquapainter

Complete with lots of my favorite things!  Pom Pom's, banners, die-cut frames, mini clothes pins and much more!
Instead of using the stamp set with the Hello Life Project Kit- I chose to create a card instead!

Red Rose lace, 1 yd. Blackberry Bliss thin velvet trim, 4 white doilies, 12 adhesive pearls, 1 large metal flower button, 2 small metal buttons, 2 clear buttons, 2 Blushing Bride resin flowers and 1 large white resin flower.
I don't know about you but I can think of a TON of ways to use this kit!
Below is just one of the beautiful projects that I have created.

Isn't it sweet?  LOVE the floral die cut cards! Watercolor paper was used to create the card base as  I wanted to be able to have the colors  show through the flowers of the die cut card.  Using an Aquapainter- I wet the Watercolor paper then added both Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo ink.  After the card was dry- I assembled and embellished!
