Fancy Friday Color Refresh

Hello there and welcome back for another Fancy Friday blog hop.  I'm hopping with my fancy friends today- all are either current or former members of the Stampin' UP! Artisan Design Team.  Today we have lots of gorgeous projects to share with you featuring either NEW or RETURNING color favorites.

The colors I chose to work with are Lovely Lipstick, Mango Medley, Pineapple Punch, Call me Clover, Blueberry Bushel, and Gorgeous Grape.

That's an entire rainbow right there!  Or it's a string of Christmas Lights...

Speaking of Christmas lights...is it too early for Christmas cards?  I'm thinking so but then again Christmas is just 6 short months away.  How can that be?  It seems that the warmer weather has just arrived!

How did I create this adorable little string of lights?  They are super easy!
I began by cutting 1/4" x 11" strips of Basic Black card stock to create the light bases.  I scored each 1/4" x 11" strip four times (enough to create a square) and then I cut the excess off.  Using a Bone Folder I curled the remainder of the 1/4" x 11 " strip, rolled it up super tight and inserted it into the center of the light base.  Depending on how tightly you roll you can get several light bases from one strip.

To create the light bulbs- I again used a 1/4" x 11" strip of card stock (in the colors from my color palette).  Using the Bone Folder I curled the entire strip of card stock.  Beginning on one end- I created a teardrop shape and used Multipurpose Liquid Glue to hold it together.  Trim the excess.  Roll the excess strip tightly and slightly squish the sides together into a oval shape.  Insert inside the teardrop and you have a light bulb!  A Glue Dot fits perfectly between the light base and the light bulb to hold in place.

I used a Sponge Dauber in the coordinating light bulb colors to make it appear as each light is glowing.  The Merry & Bright sentiment is from the Hearts Come Home stamp set.   Since this card is pretty thick (each light sets 1/4" off the card base) it is not a card that can be sent in the mail (unless of course it's inside another form of packaging such as a box).

I also created a super fun Christmas lights themed scrapbook page.  The picture is of my son and my niece Ally.  These two don't get to see each other often as we live in different states but they sure do have a great time when they are together!

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you have enjoyed my projects!  Up next is the amazing Jennifer Picard!  Please be sure to click the next button and hop along with us!
